I once was told (recently) that my calling was to write books that taught parents how to raise their kids and kids how to treat their parents. I guess there is only one piece of advice I would give any parent who asked can be summed up in one sentence.

…but the good news is, I put a deposit down on an apartment yesterday! Wahoo! It’s the size of a postage stamp, but it has an ocean view and is literally a block from the beach. The rest of the day was spent running around getting an oil change, looking at houses/apartments, homeschooling, going to… Read More
My glamorous life yesterday: 4:30 am – being woken up by the Kidlet because she had a bloody nose. Couldn’t go back to sleep. 6:00 am – reading the news for potential future articles. 7:30 am – out the door to drive 40 miles to a day of appointments for the day job. 7:00 pm… Read More
I got a call today that one of my little first graders lost her dad earlier this week. He was in a serious accident a few weekends ago and was in ICU. He was in his late 20’s. Times like this is when we are reminded how fleeting life is. It’s almost a cliche now… Read More

Just kidding). Even… Read More
Most days I feel like a bad mother. Between working a lot, from home, so I can never leave; and homeschooling and doctor’s appointments, I feel like I am seriously damaging my child and one day will have the therapy bills to prove it. Then, I saw this posted on someone’s Facebook wall today, and… Read More
While walking out of a restaurant last night with the Kidlet, after a 13-hour workday, she mentioned being happy about going home and into bed. To which I replied, “I would love to do that too.” Then, she said, “Let me guess. You have to work.” I told her she was correct, to which she… Read More
Today, I dug my hands deep into the dirt and pulled out vegetables. Then I used those vegetables and made a healthy, delicious home cooked meal. Stop laughing. No, seriously. I have never felt more like Susie Homemaker than I did today. All that was missing was 4 loads of laundry (and I would’ve done… Read More
