I’m starting each day listing 10 things I am grateful for and why. Now, I feel like I’m a pretty grateful person. I say thank you a lot, I ponder why I am blessed and since working on my transformation to becoming an optimist, I’ve been trying to see all the great things that have happened and are happening in my life.
It’s not that easy.
Especially when my habit is waking up and before the sleep is totally out of my eyes and all neurons are firing at 100%, I am checking emails, texts, to do lists and the ever important Facebook. Now, I find myself staring blurrily at my journal, trying not to say what I said yesterday.
But starting your day with a thankful heart is something I wholeheartedly recommend. It sets a great tone for each day. (You probably are saying, “Well, duh, Hanssie.” So, okay, how many of you are doing it??!)
I’m also ending the day by thinking of all the good things that happened that day and giving thanks for the best thing that has happened to me. So I go to bed with a smile of a happy memory.
All this is coming from a book I am reading called, The Magic by Rhonda Bryne. She is the author of The Secret. When The Secret first came out, I pfffft it, dismissing it as too New Age-y and full of drivel. I picked up the second book of her series a few weeks ago, The Power, put aside my pre-judgements and read it through. Yes, it’s a bit New Age-y, but the principles are good and have really helped remind me to think positively.
So, today, my book club recommendation is The Magic and The Power. Don’t pffft it till you try it. The Magic is all about 28 days of giving gratitude. So, what are you thankful for today??
P.S. I do not miss the dating life. Not one bit.
