Silence

I used to be addicted to TV. I had my list of weekly shows that I followed religiously. To the point of reading E! Online for spoilers and such. Yes, I was nerdy like that. It’s not a secret.

I’d like to say that I ran out of time to watch TV, but in reality, I ran out of reasons to need the noise. When I actually settled down a bit and allowed myself to be surrounded by silence to think and meditate, I made a few self-discoveries that were drowned out by my constant need for stimulus.

I no longer have a need for background noise, be it in the form of blasting the radio in the car, or distracting myself with the Hollywood drama. I am now comfortable in just sitting and being, enjoying the silence and what it might teach me.

I encourage you today to take a few minutes and shut everything off for a bit and let life reveal itself to you. You might be surprised to discover what it might be trying to tell you.

P.S. I won’t give up Dexter, though. There’s only a handful of episodes left in the series anyway 🙂
