I haven’t done one of these posts for a while, and since I will always be obsessive-compulsive, I guess it’s time to tell you what I’ve been fixated on lately.
1. Minions
Yes, I’ve always wanted one (I even called my intern a “minion,” and now that they are cute little yellow Twinkie-like things, I’m super obsessed. Yes, I did buy the entire set of McDonald’s toys. Twice. I’ve seen the movies (Despicable Me 1 and 2 – for those of you who are too high-brow for cartoons) numerous times, but one serious obsession is this iPhone case that is a limited Comic Con buy. I found ONE on the internet…but it’s $60 and I can’t pull the trigger on it. But I might…
2. Books (The Paper Kind)
Two years ago, I eschewed paper books for my iPad/Kindle. Tired of the space it took up and the dust they collected, I donated all of my books. Now, I’m on a quest to fill my bookshelves up again and replace some of these treasures. Each week, I go to my public library and their used book sale and grab a few more titles for my collection for about $1 each. I look forward to the trip each week…and now, I have to rebuy more bookshelves. It’s a never-ending cycle.
3. Drunk Gummy Bears
Vodka + gummy bears. What’s not to love? The recipe: marinate a bag of gummy bears (use a really good kind of gummies) in vodka and refrigerate for 5 days. You’re welcome.
4. FaceTime
I know I’m like 6 years behind this trend but I’ve recently discovered FaceTime and I’m addicted. I can talk to and see my loved ones at any time. Why haven’t I tried this before? Besides the fact that I feel super awkward on camera…oh yeah, that’s right. Oh well, I still love it and it’s now one of my favorite things to do through the week.
5. Organic Cinnamon Toast Rice Cakes
Gone are the days when rice cakes were flavorless cardboard foods for health nuts…either that or I’ve become a health nut. Nevertheless, being on a low-carb diet, at the end of the day when all I want is a chocolate chip cookie, ice cream, and funnel cake all mixed together, this rice cake topped with Justin’s Honey Almond Butter is almost heavenly. Oh and one other thing, (and this technically makes it six things I’m obsessed with), these Revolution protein bars taste kind of like Snickers without the sugar and fat. But don’t eat too many, they will make you sick. The cheapest I’ve found them is at Walmart. 6 bars for $6.47 (and the only reason I step foot into Walmart).
